I'm all for Kylee being a smart girl, but when she is smart enough to push the diaper box up to the counter so she can reach the stuff on it then I have to draw the line!
This year we did not have any parties to go to and Stew was still in no condition to dress up, so we stayed at home and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Colleen and Andrew came down to hang with us and make us dinner. They were so kind to come down and help me out. Andrew asked Stew if there was anything they could do for us since Stew just has surgery on Tuesday, and Stew told him that he could come down and give me a break from cooking dinner and watching Kylee. It was just what I needed. We had a yummy dinner. I think the best part was that I did not have to cook or clean up. Colleen even played with Kylee up in her room, so that our dinner was peaceful (Kylee was having a hard day). Then we played card games. Kylee was getting really antsy and whenever I pulled out the candy bowl to hand candy out to the trick-or-treaters Kylee was try and get it. She was not too happy when I would not let her have any. Colleen and I then decided that Kylee needed to get out and that taking her trick-or-treating might be fun. We put on her BRIGHT orange wig and went on a mini trick-or-tricking to a few houses in our neighborhood. Kylee LOVED it. She even would knock on the doors. Sometimes she would be polite and say Please and Thank you, but mostly she would grab a handful of candy, turn around and head for the next house. She caught on pretty quickly. I wish I would of had a better costume for her. I really did think that she would not care if she went trick-or-treating or not. Boy was I wrong! We did not need any of the candy Kylee collected, so when we got home we added it to the candy we handed out. Luckily, we did not end up with too much leftover candy! I promise next year we will dress up. I already have an idea. (I already had ideas for this year, but did not follow through with any of them.)Colleen and Kylee Trick-or-Treating (Colleen I added this picture just for you!)
See Kylee's death grip on her candy?
Kylee was not too happy that Colleen stopped her from trick-or-treating.
This is what Kylee looked like when she saw the candy bowl.
Grabbing as much candy and she could hold on to.
We did carve pumpkins (on Saturday though) and decorate our front porch for the trick-or-treaters. Stew and I carved them while Kylee was taking her nap. Carving the pumpkins went so smoothly. It was the easiest carving I have ever done. It was actually relaxing and fun. I carved the ghost boo pumpkin and Stew carved the scary jack-o-lantern. Kylee loved to say "BOO" to the pumpkins (see video). Overall, we had a pleasant Halloween thanks to Colleen and Andrew!"Mom, I'll pick these up for you."
"Ok, maybe I will pick them up one at a time."
I was sitting on the stoop and when I got up Kylee took my place. I love the fact that she mimics me. She is so darn CUTE!!!
Monday for FHE we headed down the street to the Pumpkin Patch. We even got to cut our own pumpkins off the vines! When we first got there Kylee was more excited about the gravel and rocks then the pumpkins. She loves rocks!
She is holding rocks in her hands.
Kylee and Daddy found he perfect pumpkin for our little pumpkin.
Last weekend, we took a trip down to St. George to surprise our good friend Eve for her birthday. About a month ago, Eve's husband (Wes), Stew and I started planning for this weekend. It was a BIG birthday for Eve so we wanted to do something fun. The Smiths moved to Vegas early this past summer and we have been missing them ever since (we did get to see them for the 4th of July and at Disneyland, but it's not enough). Our original plan was to take the jet skis and a borrowed boat out to a lake for the weekend, but the weather got cold way to fast. Our next plan was to go to Vegas and watch a show, but the cost to go to a show was way to much. So we finally decided to go to St. George where Wes' grandpa has a vacation condo that we can stay at for FREE! We thought we might go to Zions or the Grand Canyon, but in the end Eve just wanted to hang out in St. George (which turned out to be really fun).We tried postpone Kylee's nap as long as we could so she could sleep in the car,
but these are the looks we got during her lunch. She was out for about 30 min before we left. I strapped her in her car seat for her nap, so when we left all I had to do was put her car seat in the car.
Friday we drove down and surprised Eve at dinner. She had guessed earlier in the day that we might show up, but was nice to her husband and did not want to ruin the surprise. It was so good to see her and catch up. Kylee and their little girl, Addy, were happy to see each other.
The next morning we took our time getting ready and went to the Bear Paw for some YUMMY breakfast. There were a few activities going on downtown that day so we decided to check them out. We first headed to a small farmer's market. We found a really cute beanie for Kylee. Sadly, we did not have cash on us to buy the hat. We then headed to a scarecrow festival/Chili cook off. We passed on the chili cook off tasting since we had just finish breakfast. The best part of the scarecrow festival was that it was next to a man made stream that the girls got to play in. Kylee was in heaven. She has become such a water baby. She could of walked around the stream all day long if we had let her. Kylee also got to meet Red from Red Robin for the first time. (Katie we thought of you!) I think going to Disneyland was good for Kylee, because she had no hesitations going up to Red and giving him high 5s. She would walk up to Red give him a high 5 then go back into the stream, then she would repeat this process over and over again. She is so silly! Red was a good sport and played with Kylee. Addy (in the blue) loved playing in the water as well. Wish we would of thought to be bring their swimsuits with us when we left the condo that morning.
The best scarecrow!

That night we were able to find a babysitter for the little girls, thanks to Stew's good friend James. We wanted to do something fun so we headed to a miniature golf course that had go carts. I was in charge of taking pictures and I totally spaced. Sorry. We played a fun round of miniature golf and then went the best part, the go carts. Stew talked the worker into telling him which cart was the fastest and luckily for him it was one in the front. His cart smoked all of ours. His cart was so fast that he could of lapped us twice if he wanted to. Poor Eve the birthday girl got the slowest cart. We got to play a few arcade games and Eve used all of our tickets to get a prize (of course like most moms she got something for Addy, even though it was her birthday). We realized that we only had an hour to get dinner before we had to get back to take the babysitter home, so we went to Chili's for a quick meal. We had such a nice time hanging out without the worry of the kids. It felt good to pretend we weren't parents for a few hours. After dropping off the babysitter at home, we stayed up way to late playing games. We really miss hanging out with the Smiths. They are so chill and fun to spend time with.
For breakfast on Sunday, we took even more time getting ready again which made finding breakfast a struggle. We wanted to hit up Bear Paw again but the wait was way too long and the little girls really need food sooner then we could of been seated. After a few other tries we ended up going to The Golden Carroll. Definitely not my first or top 10 choice to go to eat, but they had a buffet which meant the food would be fast. They told us that breakfast ended at 11am but they would keep most of it out until 11:30am. We got there around 10:45am, but by the time we got seated and went to get breakfast almost all of the breakfast food was already replaced by the lunch. Stew got more then peeved. He was ticked! He went and complained. The manager ended up comping all of our meals. Stew ended up using the refund as a tip for our waitress. I wish I was her that day!
We went back to and cleaned the condo, while the girls got to play with sidewalk chalk. Kylee liked eating the chalk better then drawing with it. We are still working on the whole not putting everything in her mouth thing. It was then time to say our goodbyes to our dear friends. We had such a fun time with them and were sad our time together had to end. We agreed that we needed to either meet in St. George again to play or go down to Vegas and see them in their soon to be new house. The drive home was GREAT! Kylee slept the entire 3.5 hours. She did not wake up until we were turning onto our street. I got to take a little nap, and Stew averaged about 85-90 mph the entire drive home. He said it would of been faster but he spotted a cop and thought he should slow down a bit. Needless to say, we made really good time getting back home. We can't wait to take another trip to see the Smiths! PS: All the videos are for Aubree! She requested to see some videos of Kylee a few weeks ago and I have not posted any for her yet, so here they are Aubs. Hope you like them. I promise to add some better videos of her in a few days!
Colleen had her fall break a week ago or so, and she was so sweet and wanted to play with us. One day we went up to Park City and she went shopping with me. We had fun hanging out together. We also made it to the best place on earth...the downeast outlet store! I get into so much trouble when I go there, but I can't help it. Getting a shirt for $2.50 is such a great deal. The only problem is that I buy too many shirts. Oh, well!
Another day, we went shopping for Andrew's birthday presents. Then we went to a park and played. Kylee loved having Colleen to play with. I got to try out more of the things I am learning in my photo class, but getting a well composed picture of an always moving 1 year old is pretty hard. I tried my best.
This rainbow was over our house the other day. It is not very often you see a full rainbow. The rainbow was so beautiful. While I was out taking pictures of the rainbow, Kylee took the opportunity to play outside. I tried to use some of the things I am learning in my photography class. I still have a lot to learn. Hopefully, one day after a ton of practice I will get better.
