Our Very First Garden

We started with something that looked something like this...(we forgot to take pictures of the real before. This is our neighbors weeds. Ours were a bit worse since we have these two trees with nasty thorns on them.)

After a ton of weeding and a bobcat skimming the top layer of weeds off the top, we finally got to prepare to soil for planting. We added soil enhancer and rented a rotor tiller to break up the hard dirt. Our good friend Regis did most of the rotor tilling. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!Stew spreading the soil.

The huge rotor tiller we rented. It was massive.

Some of the tomatoes we grew from seeds.

Kylee "heping" daddy.
We had Kylee in her play tent,
but she wanted to be out in the dirt with us.
She really loved playing in the dirt.

Our little rows of lettuce.

Our squash.

And NOW we have THIS!!!! (I did plant a bunch more during the week Stew was gone.)

We were scared for awhile that our garden would not grow. It struggled for a month or two. But after some great advice from friends our garden is flourishingly. I squealed like a little kid when I saw the little zucchini growing. I am so excited for all the fresh veggies. We have melons, squash, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, reg tomatoes, red cabbage, cucumber, strawberries, lettuce, and broccoli. YUMMY!!!

The garden is looking good. This is our first year doing a garden & I'm 50 years old. So far we have eaten green beans, Roma tomatoes, regular tomatoes, jalapenos, radishes & a few varieties of chili peppers. I am about ready to pick my first green bell pepper. Woo hoo!!! Still waiting for lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, onions & cucumbers. I hate squash, zucchini in particular. Our house did come with strawberry plants & fruit trees, but this is our fist adventure into veggies.
